Best way to waste AA batteries,

Of my favorite things when I was younger, the Gameboy definitely stands out as one of the things that drew me to love music.
I mean, they had to write songs that loop continuously. and you had to make it good, or else the player gets irritated.
One of the things I've noticed in most games these days, the quality of soundtracks rivals that of film, and have amazing composers, but yet it has no lasting value.
I mean, they have every bit of musical capability to entice the player into enjoyment, but it really has no impact for the most part. While amazing and talented, none come even remotely close to the gameboy.

In particular, the Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening stands out in my mind as having some of my favorite music, period.
Every scene on this tiny, pixelated, green, and nearly impossible to play unless in direct sunlight, liquid crystal display had enticing scores following each scene after scene. Even if the song was only heard once in the entire game, it usually still stood out in my mind, and I remember it.
So good, that I'd even start the game and play the first 15 minutes leading up to getting the sword, then listen to that track for a while with headphones. That was my first personal music player.
Before we had CD players or tape decks, I'm pretty sure videogames were what taught a lot of children to appreciate music.
To make music, within the confines of completely digital medium, and to do it well, is a great feat that not many famous musicians can even tout.
Even when I was travelling across the country, homeless and broke, I still had an old brick gameboy in my pack and two games, Warioland and Zelda.

and spare batteries.

Check out track 29 of Links Awakening, if your a music loving nerd and you so happen to find this page on the open sea of the internet.

SPY-DAMAN!

Behold, fans of the amazing webslingin spidey, I give you,
SPIDERMAN(JAPANESE)!

I have to tell you guys, really, if anyone watched power rangers as a child, you should already know that P.R. was a well known japanese superhero action drama, re-cut and redubbed into a mind numbing saturday morning american kids television show.
It wasn't even close to being the first in the series of Sentai, a quite popular "tokusatsu"(Jap-lit. Special-effect)

If you are familiar with power rangers, and it's plot, you should be able to embrace japanese spiderman with much grace.

BLAH BLAH BLAH
PROFESSOR MONSTER(evil cyborg alien dude from space)
comes down during some warring period of japanese history to track down another alien dude, Garia, from the planet spider. yeah.
Somewhere along the way, the Prof. wounds Goria, which makes him hibernate in an cave for 400 years or so.
sometime in the 70's, a scientist had found out about the Iron Cross Army, Professor Monster's secret military force made up of weird robots, giant exploding monsters and totally rad, 80's shades-rockin bird dudes.
after tracking the prof down, and trying to stop him somehow, he is wounded fatally from said bird dudes along with his son, a motorcycle racer.
His son just so happens to fall into the cave of Goria, in which he is injected with Spider "extract" and is healed completely while giving him all the powers of your american peter parker's super alter-ego, with a bit of japan on the side.
While wearing this clunky ass bracelet, Spiderman can call up some weird shit
A giant transforming spiderman robot named leopardon,
and in it's spaceship mode, Marveller.
and a race car named GP-7.
all the web slingin is done with this bracelet, and also his suit shoots out of it and a cardboard cutout of spiderman is shown moving over him, then the actor is shown, fully clothed in suit.

each episode is not too long, and usually consist of Professor Monster fuckin with spiderman abunch, by making "MACHINE-BEM" robots that usually mess with spidey and his friends, then there's always someone dying in the arms of their own child or something, and the slinger has a dramatic revenge announcement.
He busts into wherever the machine-bems hiding out and poses abunch while informing the villans of his name and purpose.
He usually kicks the shit out of the birdy dudes and has a couple laughably horrible special effect wall climb fight scenes.
then the machinebem makes his way to a dusty dune filled landscape and grows quite large.
Spiderman calls MARVELLER, and flys the GP-7 into Marveller, shoots missiles at the machinebem, decides thats not good enough, so he transforms into leopardon and shoots him with more missiles, also maybe his arms turn into missiles, his right arm gets lit on fire from the machinebems missiles, and so he finally gets fed up and throws a giant sword at the monster, which then explodes, and is completely disintegrated.
spiderman has a long, heart-felt moment with whoever is left alive, and exacts revenge for the sake of whoever died.

It's SUCH a great show, even though that's about every single episode in a nutshell.
each one has it's moments and can be fucking hilarious at times. inbetween all the shit that happens above, there's always a quirky plot and each machinebem has it's own spot in the limelight.
Actually it can be downright dramatically depressing at times and some episodes leave you on such a downer that you kinda want to keep watching more episodes to see spidey kick more ass.
this screams 70's as well, the music and the episode plots, they're so fucking weird and retro, leave it to the japanese to think up shit like this.
Alright already, just watch teh damn thing, there's about 40 episodes or so and they're all available for free streaming from the marvel website(badass)
